Interview: Eddy Wong
Many people who are not running have also committed themselves to praying for us. We will need lots of covering and protection against sicknesses and other calamities. One such person is Eddy Wong, a guy involved in the logistics business. Apart from being an expert in transporting goods he knows a thing or two about being transported into the presence of God through the medium of prayer. Which is where we need to be if we want to take on this challenge.
RC: What’s the first thing you do when you wake up?
EW: Try to do my QT (quiet time) and pray.
RC: Do you have set times to pray every day? Do you think about God and prayer the whole day?
EW: Yes, Early in the morning and while driving to work. It takes me about 35 mins to get to work on the Elite Highway-great time to pray!
RC: What’s your favourite movie, t.v. show now?
EW: Asia Food Channel.
RC: Many of us, especially young adults have difficulty praying, there are just so many distractions, did you face similar difficulties as a young adult? Please describe them.
EW: Yes. Work and social activities used to be a major distraction. It really boils down to priorities. There must be a desire to connect with God first. Then we need to make it a priority to spend time with Him. The Holy Spirt will seal this relationship and after a while the distractions will begin to fade away.
RC: We all have a desire at times to pray for our needs, our family, when problems crop up. Then when things start getting better we forget to pray and the desire is lost. How did you keep this fire for prayer going?
EW: The key here is relationship. If you have a strong grounded relationship with the Lord then prayer should come easy. If the relationship breaks down then we will loose our desire to pray. It’s that simple.
Editor’s Notes: Simple answers to simple questions. Food for thought. The Bible says “Taste and see that the Lord is good (Ps 34:8)”. Does that whet your appetite? If you answer no, you ain’t ready for RunNat.
