Hey guys,
Hope all of you had a great Chinese New Year celebration with your family and loved ones. For most of us at RunNat, it has been a time of fellowship and sharing the blessings of God with the people around us during this festive season. And, we’ve been sharing about the Run too! Despite the holidays, we are still at work to bring you the latest news on RunNat2010.
If you don’t already know, one of our beneficiaries is Harvest Center (click here to find out more) and the RunNat Comm planned to visit the centre to experience what they are doing for the community. One of our team members went to visit Harvest Center to further understand what they do, and here’s a short testimony from Daniel Chia.
Hey people,

I love morning runs! When I run, I have the opportunity to meditate on His word, and expect for God to speak to me.
That happened recently during my young working adults retreat. While everyone was fast asleep, I was awake and going through the past few days notes which were simply life-changing! I had already done a 100km bike ride to Port Dickson and a 5km run the day before and was quite tired. I ran, anyway because I believe that even in my tiredness, He would be able to speak to me and refresh me.
The first half an hour was simply tiring! Before I made the U-turn to head back to Corus Hotel, I stood by the roadside peering out to sea. It was so beautiful and serene and sang a couple songs there. On the way back, I felt a need to pray. So I began to pray for Port Dickson! Seriously, it felt weird! What can my prayers do, I wondered. What can one man do, in the wee hours of the morning, having no clue of the town of Port Dickson yet pray about it? But I obeyed and began praying as I ran.
God began to bring me to a few significant landmarks to pray for and through that process, ignited my prayers! These were the landmarks which I began to pray for as I past each one in this order:

God is great! I signed up for the Run Nat thinking I should be able to finish the race. I was a runner way back in high school times. Now 34 years old alot of things have changed and i stopped exercising & running. But I do run occasionally. To make it worse after signing up I injured my heel badly during futsal game and stopped running completely two months before the race. A week to go before the race and I was abit panicky. I attended the briefing at FGA just a week before to check the routes. I was overwhelmed with the AG3 group coming forward with Brother Kenny guiding & motivating us, I really felt touched and made a commitent to practice before the run, I cycled a few days before the race and 2 days before the race I told myself I must run 5km to prepare myself. My wife also advised me to consider pulling out since my heel was still in bad shape. But I told her I am believing for a miracle and God is going to enable me and qualify my fitness level to finish the race.
So on Thursday 8th October after dropping my kids at nursery I headed to MPSJ stadium in USJ 5 to do my 5km run. It was raining and i thought was a great excuse to not run. Then I prayed God please calm the rain and it was so when I reached the stadium but i Was expecting crowd there to keep me motivated to finish the run. But to my surprise, off course God was not at all surprised, there were no one in the stadium. It was about 9am I started running and told God to give me the strength to finish the 5km and deliver me from my complacency. I kept my time and I was running at 3 minutes per lap pace and approaching the 4th Lap the sun was up. I asked God to use the clouds to hide the sun and mantain the light drizzle till i finish the 5km (12.5 Laps). To my amazement what I prayed for took place and it was perfect weather until the end of 12.5 Laps. In between the race I was tempted to quit but I kept singing the song “yes I will run the race till I see your face, Not by Might not by power but by the Spirit of God…” This is a miracle considering no practice and the weight I am in currently. I called my Team manager Raymond & shared with Him. And the most amazing part was my heel pain was no more. I finished 12.5 laps in 47 Minutes.
Then on race day our team was gathered and we were team no 6. My team consist of Raymond (Team Manager), Suren & I (Team Captain) from Grace Assembly PJ, David and Sarah from FGA (very fit, young and regular long distance runners). I thought finished, cause everyone looked so fit except me and we had the most hilly & difficult route. Everyone admitted it was so. But I kept my cool and started running. Although I struggled along the way but we managed to pray and finish the race in 47 Minutes( this is good considering the same time I did in level ground). Could have been faster but my team members kept to my pace. God bless them for their kind hearts. Also Thanks to 54 Year old young man Roy, who also Joined us after his second Team race. I was encouraged seeing Him so fit and able to run the second 5km with us.

Dear all,
It was indeed a fantastic time and personally to me… it was brilliant!! There was such enthusiasm and concern and fellowship and most importantly the brotherhood of Jesus amongst all of us.
I was truly blessed and honestly, my hairs were standing on ends throughout the run and even when we ended up at PJ EFC. All Glory to GOD!
I am looking forward to the RunNat 2010 with much excitement and anticipation and believing GOD for a TURNAROUND for this Nation and for the Gospel to be shared openly..in our Beloved Land!!! All Things Are Possible…if we can only believe!!!
Raymond.

Key facts of Achievements by Runners & Team Managers in AG3, Klang Valley.
- Bro Eugene – although visually impaired was all determined and set us off in Team1 at an inspiring ease.
- Bro Tan Kong Seng – Who ran in our AG3 Team1 was also running in AG10 in Team5.(Bro Tan joined us on my request for an additional runner).
- Sis Mary was as usual the ever reliable and composed Team Manager of Team1. (Allow me to also mention that Mary is my beloved wife – have to say something about her or else no dinner for me 2moro or rather today).
- The 4 kids from the Shelter Home (Sally, Flora, Joyce & Glory), were fervent in their prayers and deafening in their cheers, was indeed a morale booster.
- Bro Roy showed his zeal in prayer & run, running in Team2 and continuing again in Team6.
- Bro Tuck Hoe’s determination to complete the 5KM was an encouraging sight indeed.
- Bro James- despite the early scare of a communication breakdown was truly a light & a guide shining upon us as Manager in Team2.
- The youthful Team3 of Joshua,Leon, Kelvin & Abigail, led by Team Manager Bro Choo (who sponsored the mineral water) were really amazing when they showed how our younger generation should be in the area of prayer.
- Sis Heng, Bro Choy & Sis Carol (the prayer warriors) ran one of the toughest routes in AG3 – they faced a challenge of a long and steep hill of almost 500m; despite going against all odds, were very focused in their prayers. Team Manager Sis Toh was instrumental in getting the Team organised before their run.
- The young Team of Jeremy, Elena & Christina with Team Manager Nathaniel guiding their route and pathway were a brave lot running thru Seri Petaling.
- Team6 comprising of Thomas, Sarah, David & joined by Roy and Thomas’s younger brother, with Team Manager Raymond at helm were in high spirits throughout. Their Team also had the morale support of Sarah’s parents who were driving alongside the team.
- Team7 with Leader Bro Isaac; with Sis Florence & Sis Irene running alongside him, ran in one of the two busiest routes in AG3 – along the Old Klang road. Despite not being able to hand over the prayer card to Team8 due to time factor, were greeted with joy by Team Manager Mano (bro Isaac’s wife) and their children Aaron, Joel & little Rachel together with a RunNat09 committee member at sight.
- Team8 which had to depart earlier before Team7 arrived,(in order to reach PJEFC on time) were led by the evergreen Kenneth Tai; who had with him season campaigners Jia Wei, Liew,Tony Cheah & Lisa. Their route was not only longer than the others, it was also faced with heavy traffic and pedestrian flow.Team8’s Manager – Eric did pretty well despite the fact that he came into the Team at the eleventh hour.
- Tony did a ’special’ when he ran 15KM with Victor Chua in the KL city earlier in the morning then later joining Team8 for the final lap to finish for AG3.
A note from Keney Martin, AG Head of the troup:
I know each and everyone of us encountered something more special on that day and want to give GOD all the GLORY. I just want to encourage all to sent in your testimonies to the RunNat09 website, Facebook or Twitter. We want to hear your personal experience about RunNat.

Run for the Nation or in short RunNat 2009 was launched last Saturday 10/10/2009, it was meant to prepare for the bigger event in year 2010, with 3 key words: run, pray & believe. Objective of this run is to run and pray for the nation, Malaysia, for revival.
I used to be actively running in quarter and half marathon, with my beloved sister, who passionately run through her healty lifestyle. I was dragged along sometimes due to some reasons: her friend pulled out last minute: 1 or 2 days before the run, I was free on Sunday mornings. However my first half marathon run was started by my own desire, it was in Penang, the date was near my birthday, therefore, one stone kills two birds. I celebrated my birthday there and run on the next day. Of course I went back K.L. with injury on my feet. I was inexperience, I don’t know how to deal with sports injury. My foot were bandaged for 1-2 weeks.
Having only 2 years of experience in running, I’ve learned much: warming up before run, & cooling down after run is very important. During run, we must follow our own speed and breath either using nose or mouth, not both together. Drink a lot of water a day before and after the run to avoid being dehydrated during and after the run.

Three weeks before the RunNat event, I had to go for an appendicitis surgery. Being one of the Central Committee member and the organizing chairman for the Seremban team, it was really frustrating for me to think that I was not going to be able to do anything. However, the Lord is always in control. Everything fell into place and the team in Seremban took over and did all the planning and execution.
My wife, Melina and our children stood by with me and did most of the work that I was suppose to do.
We set up a command centre at our place during the run itself. We were in constant communication with all the Team Managers and giving wake up calls. We made sure that all the runners were ready and waiting at their respective DMPs at the given time.

What could possibly happened when I had mild flu and fever the day before, and the situation got better, then went into the diarrhea….. Almost thought I was about to call Sam Wong, the area manager and William, the team manager that I might not be able to make it for the run.
I slept at 1am this morning and woke up at 3:40am when encountered the first round of diarrhea. Second round at 5:00am, about 1 hour and 20 minutes before the Run for the Nation 2009. I began to pray and ask God for His intervention, saying, “If it is Your will, let it be done. If this is not Your will, let it be so.”
While I was about to give up, I heard a gentle voice from Retna, “Just bring a spare shorts, in the event you need to change.”

Perlis, 10 October 2009 - There was excitement in the air that Saturday upnorth. Because there was a total of 78 participants from the age of 11 to 74 from 6 churches in Perlis who took part in the Run For The Nation event this year. Unlike other teams in the States, the Perlis Runners gathered at Grace Centre and had a wonderful time of worship and prayer before heading down the streets to start the run at 6:45am. 20 teams of runners covered 6 different routes praying for government building, place of worship, residential areas and commercial centres as they ran. The run ended with refreshments at 8.30 am. Praise God that everything went well. Truly it’s an occasion of significance for Perlis spiritually. Praise the Lord!

Hi RunNat,
Would like to say Congratulations! to you and the organising team on a job well done on RunNat! Our members truly enjoyed and were blessed by their participation in the event. My team was the second team to run that morning.
We were so encouraged when the first team reached us. They were pushing themselves to get to us on time, they were huffing and puffing for breath, but yet they were smiling and encouraging us to continue to carry the link. We thanked them and quickly were on our way. We ran, walked and prayed for our section. When we reached our destination, the third team were already there waiting.
Though we were late, they too were encouraging. They thanked the passing of the prayer cards and said they’ll make up for the lost time. They too quickly continued with the run.
