I would like to echo the sentiments of Daniel Chia in his testimony regarding his visit to Harvest Centre ,that he was “speechless,humbled, touched by the work done there” where 700 hardcore poor and stateless (refugee) children are cared for, given transportation, food and education.

We see from the history of Israel in the bible that time after time, they were warned by God thru the prophets, to look after the poor, the alien, widows, orphans because they kept forgetting them (mistreating them) everytime the nation prospered or when they were struggling in times of famine and lack. GOD warns in Micah Mal 3: 5 ” Then I will draw near to you for judgement and I will be a swift witness— against those who oppress the wage earner in his wages, the widow and the orphan and against those who turn aside the alien and do not fear ME”.

As I reflect on this mysef, I remember how I have forgotten about them also just as Malaysia has (and biblical Israel) in our pursuit of wealth, success, possessions, titles and our everpresent fear of lack. However a nation’s blessings, prosperity, progress, depends very much, on how we treat these people, as God’s eye is always on them.

A very Happy chinese year to all of you.

Today’s Feb 14 NST paper says whereas in the past going on holidays during CNY was frowned upon, now times have changed, with less focus on the extended family. From 283,536 ppl going on holidays in CNY 2007, this year there is an estimated 800,000 going on holidays. Let us, as we gather with our beloved families, pray for all families in Malaysia (esp christians), that all young people will honour their parents, elders (not place things above relationships), so that it will go well with them and they will live long , prosper in our beloved Malaysia. Pray for reconciliation, communication, understanding, joy , love, peace and blessings from parents to their children in all families.

She had been working for his family for over a year as a maid, including a few days a week at his stall in the coffeeshop. She longed to see her son again but she knew she had to save enough money for that day. Lately the boss had been hitting her for small mistakes, punching her face, kicking her legs, abdomen for dropping a plate, spilling water, not cleaning the floor well. She began to fear for her life, depression and anxiety setting in, but there was no one to talk to as he never let her out. One day whilst holding the man’s baby son, she slipped and the child fell down and bruised himself. She was found a few weeks later by accident in the toilet of the house, barely alive, with a broken spine, a gaping deep wound in her leg, bruises all over her body. A badly dented spear, the weapon used. She only managed to live a few days and relate her story to the authorities.

Lately in the newspapers we are reading more and more cases of maids beaten, dying in mysterious circumstances, then left to be disposed off by other parties, a maid found in toilet with broken spine, gaping wound like the above case. Sometimes they are treated as objects and not as human beings by bosses who are unable to control their anger, emotions and in many cases when they are caught and punished it brings a breakdown, fragmentation and separation in the Family as Fathers and Mothers are sent to jail. When Cain killed Abel, the LORD said “ Listen — your brother’s blood cries out to me from the ground! — no longer will it yield abundant crops for you, no matter how hard you work!” Gen 4 : 10 – 12, the land is defiled because of (blood spilling) murder of innocent people. God’s eye, heart is always with the oppressed, the poor, the alien (foreigners), widows and we see this in Zech 7 : 10 “ Do not oppress widows, orphans, foreigners and poor people. Israel’s disobedience caused them to be scattered. We need to pray for Malaysia, that the land is not defiled by oppression and killing of innocent people.

As we observe in the media these few weeks, Malaysia has been plagued by people and groups who are trying to disrupt and destabilise the unity of the country thru the burning, desecration of places of worship ie. churches, mosques, temples. Whilst last year it was the sphere of government (political arena – elections) , this year we are seeing more and more the sphere or mountain of Religion affecting the nation. Let us unite and stand together as Christians to pray for the protection of these places of worship with the same compassion, urgency as we would pray for the safety of our churches. Pray that the police will continue to pursue and convict these people who are out to desecrate and destabilise, creating strife and confrontation.

• Pray that the opportunists and those who seek to sow discord for their own political gain to repent, for the” wicked will fall by his own wickedness” Prov 11.5b
• Pray for those who easily influenced that they will no longer be manipulated to do evil.
• Pray for wisdom, sober judgement and impartiality for the national leaders as they seek amicable solutions and when they make public statements.

Let us all “pray for all people. As you make your requests plead for God’s mercy upon them, and give thanks. Pray this way for kings and all others who are in authority, so that we can live in peace and quietness, in godliness and dignity. This is good and pleases God our Saviour, for he wants everyone to be saved and to understand the truth. For there is only one God and one Mediator who can reconcile God and people.” I Tim 2 : 1 – 5

Greetings from RUNNAT Committee,

I am very excited as I am sure many of you are from the many testimonies, about our coming RUN NAT 2010 on May 22nd 5am. I am sure some of you have organized little prayer runs/ prayer walks since October 10, 2009. Just as we need to run regularly to stay fit and increase our endurance, so similarly Prayer / Intercession needs to be done daily to keep our spirit in tune with the heart of God. I liken prayer to pushing a heavy 25 feet high sliding steel door, you need to keep pushing to gather momentum, the moment you stop, you will find that you have to triple your efforts to get it moving again. Prolonged periods without prayer/ intercession leave me dry spiritually, I become lost for words, insensitive to people around me, insensitive to God and to the heart of God regarding the 7 mountains/realms or spheres affecting Malaysia. (Commerce, Government, Science & Technology, Media, Arts/Entertainment, Sports, Religion, Education. Family.)

How do I pray daily to keep my oil filled? I go for prayer walks after breakfast, lunch and dinner. As I walk I worship, praise, speak declaration, speak/sing in tongues. Walking around my neigbourhood , reveals many burdens as I look at people, houses , offices, parks, government buildings, banks, shopping centres. From the micro level of my neigbourhood, I begin to have burdens for the national level (the nation). Even during my workday, as I interact with people, read newspapers, I collect information, have revelations that I store in my heart that will be released in prayer as I do my prayer walks.

I find it is important to store information, burdens of prayer, word of God , worship songs in our hearts because as I prayer walk there is no opportunity to look up books, bibles etc, you just have to know it. Similarly with a prayer run, the more we pray regularly, do prayer walks, survey and watch what is going on, the more productive our prayer run (RUN FOR THE NAITON) on May 22nd will be as we pray for the nation with the same concern , compassion, righteousness, heartbeat as God.

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia – Unidentified attackers set fire to a church in Malaysia early Friday amid a growing conflict in the country over the use of the word “Allah” by non-Muslims, officials said.

Only the first floor office of the Metro Tabernacle Church was destroyed in the blaze that started a little after midnight Thursday, said church spokesman Kevin Ang. The worship areas on the upper two floors were undamaged, and there were no injuries.

The church is located in a three-story building on a shopping street in Desa Melawati, a suburb of Kuala Lumpur, the main city of this Muslim-majority country.

31^st of May marks the beginning of RunNat09. A gathering of 1,500 Christians from different churches in Klang Valley with the enthusiastic RunNat Committee Team at SIB KL sparked a new desire to see revival in this land. Led by the Chairman, Victor Chua, the Official Launch reminded people of God’s calling over our nation.

“Our vision is to see our youths from different denominations coming together to pray for our nation – Malaysia,” claimed Chua during the launch. Having said that, RunNat09 is not a youth event; it’s open to everyone from the children to the senior people.

A short video presentation featuring the Prayer Run event was aired during the gathering to encourage Christians to participate in the event. Many were inspired to do something for the nation after watching the video and some of them signed up on the spot after the gathering. Read More…
