A Visit to Harvest Center

Some of you may be wondering, “How does RunNat Comm chooses the beneficiaries for RunNat2010?” – well, it’s not a random draw lot kinda approach. We don’t write names down on pieces of paper and draw them out of a bowl. There are so many factors involved in selecting the right organisations as beneficiaries in this project because our aim is to reach out to the community through these organisations. And we want to do it right. So we pray about it, do our research on the organisations, talk to them to understand what they do, and even visit them to experience the cores of their values and beliefs.

Last week, the RunNat Comm has found time in the midst of the CNY festive to visit Harvest Center, one of RunNat2010 beneficiaries. And here are some of the photos we took – sharing them with you so that you too can know what Harvest Center does to impact and change the communities around them.

The Power of Prayer Runs

The Bible says in Matthew 18:19 & 20“Again, I (Jesus) tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything you ask for, it will be done for you by my Father in heaven. For where two or three come together in my name, there am I with them.” Because of His Promise, the power of God flows through our prayer to make a difference in the matters in which we intercede on behalf of our country.

There is transforming power through prayer runs. As we head down the streets with prayer, communities are being transformed. It’s NOT an act of boasting how much we are praying for the country, rather it is about ushering the presence of God through each step we take on the streets into the communities around the area. As we intercede, we are ushering God’s presence to enter our land in the spiritual realms to bring revival to our beloved country.

Being A Runner For God

Everyone is called to be saved by God’s Grace, but not everyone is called to serve Him fulltime in churches and Christian organisations because God has a unique and great plan for all of us individually. However, everyone is called to pray and intercede for the lost. Whether you’re at home, in the marketplace, at school or even on the road, we are all called to pray. And RunNat is all about just that: Prayer & Intercession.

It is essential for us to win our battles in the heavenlies first through prayer and intercession. Unless we battle the war through prayer for things and people in the heavenly realms, we will not win them on earth because Jesus told Peter in Matthew 16:19 I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven. Thus we need to make our battle in prayer before we act out the things we have been praying for.

Route Mapper:Drawing Up Maps!

At RunNat, there is a team of Route Mappers who works hard in ensuring that every Runner has a map to guide him/her when they sign up for the Run. The designated map serves 3 purposes: (1) So that the Runners do not get lost during their Run, (2) So that every Runner indeed covers 5km, and (3) so that Runners don’t run in the same area. Kinda defeat the purpose if all of us are running and praying for the same area, don’t you think?

So we need a lot of maps, and many more Route Mappers to draw up the maps. Last year, for RunNat09, Klang Valley has at least 25 different routes/maps in our aim to cover 1,010km (Praise God that we successfully covered met the target). This year, we believe that God will bring in more Runners so that we can cover more land. Which also means, we need more maps.

If you are interested to help us out and be a Route Mapper, drop us an email or call Keney Martin. We will be glad to hear from you. And if you want to find out more about Route Mapping, here’s sharing with you guys the three simple steps a Route Mapper takes to draw up a map.

What Is RunNat All About

RunNat… RunNat… RunNat… Not only had the sportsmen been talking about it since the first RunNat event in 2007, even God’s people are excited about it because Run For The Nation is the first-of-its-kind prayer event that combines the passion for running and the desire to intercede for our beloved nation. It’s the one thing that everyone can do together as family of God despite our age differences, background divergence and various personalities. In prayer, we are one in Christ. And through prayer, we can make a difference.

Run For The Nation (friendly known as RunNat) is a single morning running event that sees Christians praying as they run throughout selected areas in the city or town where the event is held. The Runners are grouped into teams of three and each Team is required to cover a 5km run of a preselected route passing by homes, schools, commercial areas, government buildings, religious sites and other places of interest. As the Team runs, one will lead in prayer while the other two will agree. With the aim to cover most grounds, the Run adopts the relay style by using Prayer Cards in replacement of batons.

Household of Faith

Dear Runners and Friends

Every now and then, the RunNat Comm gets to experience something that touches our hearts. Last Sunday we experienced the warm fellowship that is usually the hallmark of a small and tightly-knit church. We had a lovely time fellowshipping with members of Household of Faith and Ps Sunny Khoo and his family hosted us to a lovely lunch. What’s more 17 of their members signed up making them the church with the highest ratio of registrants-42% of their members!

Onsite Prayer

RunNat in a nutshell is onsite prayer. ie. praying wherever you are at a given moment for the people and situation around you. We can pray wherever we are and be agents of transformation. See what Weng Hong our Prayer Coordinator has to say about onsite prayer:

“I sense now that everytime I go to government departments whether it be the SSM, JPJ, TNB, Municipal councils, Land Office to pay my rates and make enquiries or have any other dealings with government departments, it means time to intercede. As I wait in the queue, talk to the government officers I will start praying for each individual worker, officer, for them to do their work efficiently, without fear or favour, praying for God’s blessings on those who fear His name or do work properly and efficiently. I also walk around praying in tongues for the whole government institution and departments for God’s blessings and for protection for them and for God’s glory and will to be done and for His kingdom to come there. Its time we stop going there just to be doing a transaction, but rather to be transformational”.

Just think about it for a moment-for every kilometre of road you run you will be passing by hundreds of buildings which houses thousands of inhabitants. & with RunNat 09 we intend to cover more than 1300km across Malaysia! By 10am we would have prayed for millions of Malaysians throughout the land. Let’s be transformational in what we do.

Faith Without Action Is Dead

faith-action-dead

So is running without prayer. Though a short amen in agreement with the other runners in a team will indeed make a difference as the Bible says ‘For where two or three come together in my name, there am I with them’.
